STUDENT SUPERVISORS (CASUAL) – BANK OF CANDIDATES
Position Description
The Lester B. Pearson School Board is looking for student supervisors to work in our lunch program. Approximately one hour per day – varies by school. A temporary lay-off occurs during the summer period. Apply to get invited to a screening and find out more information.
Schedule: Approximately ONE HOUR per day during the school’s lunch hour (varies depending on school schedule).
Availability: Candidates must be available to work at lunchtime.
Location: Various – Lachine, LaSalle, Verdun, West Island and Off Island
NATURE OF WORK:
The principal and customary work of an employee in this class of employment consists in ensuring that students adhere to the school policy on discipline.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Hold a Secondary School Diploma or a diploma or an attestation of studies recognized as equivalent by the competent authority; and have one (1) year of pertinent experience in those areas requiring self-discipline, general concepts in psychology and human relations skills.
AND:
Hold a certificate dated no more than three (3) years attesting to the successful completion of: 1. a standard first aid course of a minimum eight (8)-hour duration; or a refresher course of a minimum six (6)-hour duration updating the skills acquired in the course
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The employee in this class of employment supervises students in the school and its buildings to ensure that rules are observed and that students are safe.
- Must be bilingual.
- Must be able to cooperate with others and be part of a team.
- Must be comfortable supervising a group of 20-25 students.
- Must possess good observation skills and strategies for intervening with children.
- Must be proactive and willing to participate with the children during indoor and outdoor supervision
