NATURE OF THE WORK
The Assistant Director of Material Resources and Transportation works under the responsibility of the Director of Material Resources and Transportation and offers support to the director in all programs and activities relating to the management of the school board’s investment projects. The person selected for this position will also work closely with service directors and school principals. The incumbent will have to:
- Manage the expansion of the Investment Division;
- Ensure investment and construction projects are carried out whether they are new constructions, maintenance of infrastructures or special projects;
- Plan and coordinate the construction of two (2) new schools for which approvals have already been obtained;
- Conduct discussions with cities to acquire land and identify strategic locations while taking into account the vast territory served;
- Manage a multidisciplinary team;
- Prepare and plan ministerial requests, including those related to the needs for additional space;
- Plan maintenance of infrastructure projects with maintenance services;
- Support and supervise in-house design advisory group;
- Oversee the career development of the investment team;
- Be attuned to the needs of all stakeholders;
- Assume any other responsibility compatible with the role and assigned by the director.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Have eight (8) years experience in project management.
- Have five (5) years experience in personnel management.
- Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec or the Ordre des architectes du Québec.
- Be organized and have a good sense of priorities;
- Have very good negotiating skills.
- Show unifying leadership and promote collaboration and team commitment.
- Stand out through quality customer services and political skills.
- Have the capacity to communicate in French and in English, both spoken and written.
- Be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite;
